The Legion Survival Kit was designed with senior citizens in mind. Imagine our delight when the end result was a kit that is perfect for any individual, young or… mature! Lightweight, affordable, compact, and still filled with 72 hours of basic supplies? Yes please!

The Legion kit uses our Individual Essentials Kit as a base and adds a LifeStraw Personal Water Filter, Kaito crank flashlight/radio, handwarmers, and a Mini First Aid Kit.

The Legion Survival Kit was specifically designed for a retirement community in Victoria BC, and adopted its name from them as well. While visiting the residents we heard comments about our usual kits being too bulky or heavy to store and carry – and we listened! By using our smallest and most compact kit as a base we were able to provide a kit that worked for the residents on their terms.

Food and water are the heaviest part of a survival kit, so instead of adding additional water pouches to meet 72 hour requirements we chose a lightweight filter system instead. The LifeStraw Personal Water Filter weighs less than 1 pound, and can filter out bacteria and protozoa from fresh water sources. It will filter up to 4000 liters of water and takes about as much effort as drinking a thick milkshake.

The second major change was the addition of a crank radio and flashlight unit. The small Kaito radio/flashlight can also lend some emergency charge to a phone, and has a built in siren to help the user call for help.
