Great Northern Beans are delicious, nutritious, vegetarian, and non-GMO!

Great Northern Beans are a small and nutritious variety of the common bean. They’re a perfect addition to your personal food stores, as you can add them to just about anything! Great Northern Beans make a fantastic addition to soups, stews, dips, and more. They’re also a fantastic vegetarian substitute for meats in many meals! You can even add them to bread dishes for a mildly sweet taste while generously increasing both moisture and density for a perfect mouthful. Consider pairing Great Northern Beans and freeze-dried food supplies such as those made by Legacy Premium Foods; with a 25-year shelf life all-around, you’ll always have a plan for an emergency (or even just a rainy day)!

Great Northern Beans have a less creamy texture than most beans, and will take on the flavour of anything with which they’re cooked. This makes them a wonderful way to add protein and other nutrients such as iron to your diet. You can add Great Northern Beans to virtually anything to have a massive nutrient boost without having to worry about balancing strong flavours! They’re also a fantastic source of dietary fibre. You’ll definitely want this in an emergency situation!

Cooking Instruction

Great Northern Beans can be prepared by soaking overnight or using a quick-soak method. First, rinse the beans, and then cover with an inch of water. For overnight preparation, soak for at least four hours, and then drain and rinse your beans before cooking with them. For a quick-soak, place the beans in a saucepan with an inch of water and bring to a boil. Boil for 3-5 minutes, and then let them soak for 1 hour off the heat.

Soaked beans will cook in approximately 90 minutes. For each cup of beans, add 3 cups of water, and season by adding bay leaves, garlic cloves, or even kitchen salt.
