Wheat is an excellent food staple, and now with a 25-year shelf life! An excellent addition to your emergency food stores, you can use wheat berries on their own similar as a breakfast similar to cereal, or you can grind them to produce a nice and familiar flour. This can be quite important to maintain a healthy level of dietary fiber – something you certainly wouldn’t want to be lacking in an emergency!
You can also use ground flour as a non-sweet thickening agent for soups, stews, and other foods. This makes wheat berries a perfect pair for freeze-dried food supplies such as those made by Legacy Premium Foods; with a 25-year shelf life all-around, you’ll always have a plan for an emergency (or even just a rainy day)!

Cooking Instruction
While your first thought may be to grind wheat berries into flour, you can also use the whole berries as a breakfast cereal. Simply soak the wheat overnight and rinse in the morning. Add 3 parts water to 1 part wheat, and bring to a boil. Simmer for 60 minutes. Add toppings the same as you would with oatmeal!
