Across Canada, temperamental summer weather keeps us all on our toes—sometimes promising sun and giving rain—or switching gears without giving us fair warning. Some of the most severe weather, though, happens when there is no change, and we get too much of one thing.

Whether it’s high heat without rain —leading to drought, water shortage and wildfires— or wind shear and instability in the midst of a thunderstorm —leading to tornadoes— all weather conditions are out of our control. All we can do in the face of that power is prepare ourselves in the ongoing struggle of man versus nature.

In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be discussing some of the harshest weather conditions common during Canadian summers. If you’d like to get started on your own research, we encourage you to visit our government’s Environment and Climate Change website. You can also look back at some of our past blog posts to find out more about typical weather to watch out for by Canadian region.

Please stay tuned for our breakdown of preparation tips for each of the following:

  • Lightning Storms
  • Rain & Flooding
  • Wind, especially Thunderstorm Winds
  • Tornadoes
  • Hail
  • Heat & Humidity
  • UV & Air Quality Health Indexes
  • Fog & Frost
